Homestead Mainstreet

A War Bond parade in downtown Homestead in 1943.  The terrace and lobby of the Seminole Theatre can be seen in the immediate left of the photograph.

Homestead Mainstreet

Downtown Homestead, looking south on Krome Avenue from just above first street; probably in 1926.  The facade of the Seminole Theatre is very distinctive.  On the left are the Hudson and Essex auto dealership, the City Hall and the Home Building.  On the right are the Citizens Bank Building and Doc Crow’s Seminole Pharmacy.  Further on are the Homestead Mercantile and Bank of Homestead Buildings. Photo probably by Carl Turnage.

“Early Accomodations”

The early railroad, and a spirit of adventure brought these hearty souls to Homestead in the early 1900’s.  That old world charm and sense of community still exists in the Homestead of today.
